The Program in History at Stevens Institute of Technology embodies a community of scholars, teachers, and students committed to historical inquiry at the highest levels. Our mission is to articulate the values of engaged inquiry and the perspectives that the discipline of history brings to understanding ourselves, the past, and the world today. "All colleges and universities sustained or in any manner supported by public funds shall give instruction in the history of the United States and the history of Georgia and in the essentials of the United States Constitution and the Constitution of Georgia; and no undergraduate student in any college or university shall receive a certificate of graduation or a degree without successfully completing course work or previously passing a satisfactory examination on the same. Job Opportunities Employment available at museums, archives, historical organizations and the National Park Service. Graduates include an interpretive ranger at Manzanar National Park, a curator at the Wyoming Territorial Prison, the director of the Cherokee Museum, archivist at the University of Mississippi, and positions in Georgia such as the Atlanta History Center and Kennesaw National Park. Museum Studies students have been very successful at securing jobs in museums, archives and other public history venues including the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the High Museum of Art and St. Simon's Lighthouse Museum. The Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IHPST) offers two degree programs: Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy. The Institute conducts research, offers advanced studies programs, and serves as a focus for University-wide interest in its field.
