Study Requirements
Prerequisite for the inclusion of the MA course is a successful conclusion in the BA-course in “Ancient World: archeology, languages and cultures” (with Wahlpflichtfach Egyptology) or another subject at the University of Trier with Egyptology as a minor or a successfully completed BA Degree Egyptology at another university. Since the MA Egyptologist lessons to a large part of the acquisition of specialized knowledge in voice and text client is dedicated to, the curriculum of BA graduates of other universities, a sufficiently good basic training in Egyptian philology revealed. If the initial degree from a foreign university does not provide sufficient evidence of this linguistic knowledge, are those before the start of the MA studies to prove or, where appropriate, as soon as possible. Moreover, Latin knowledge from at least three school years as a requirement for admission is required. As a result of the international research orientation Egyptologist, a non-negligible part of the relevant literature in English / American and French professional bodies, to a lesser extent also in Italian, Spanish and Russian publications. Who in Egyptology research, must be regarded as foreign languages, at least, the French and English and also speak Italian, Spanish or Russian dictionaries able to view the relevant literature to be able to tap into.

The Department of Classics, Ancient History and Egyptology offers an unusually wide range of degree schemes, approaching the ancient civilisations of Egypt, Greece and Rome from a variety of perspectives. Some modules include the study of archaeological material, or may involve field trips to archaeological sites or museums.
Travel grants are available to enable a number of students each year to visit parts of the Mediterranean relating to their studies.
