MA in History Special Opportunities at State University of West Georgia
Special Opportunities
The department permits students to develop their own area of concentration for minor fields: Women’s History, Latin American History, Labor History, Military History, etc.
Research assistantships and internships.
Faculty encourage students to attend and present papers at historical conferences.
Two certificate programs are offered beyond our traditional history offerings: the Public History Certificate and the Museum Studies Certificate.
The Museum Studies program allows students to participate in activities similar to those performed in a museum setting: complete marketing and strategic plans, write foundation proposals, create exhibit proposals, develop educational programs and interpretive plans, and inventory and register museum collections. The classes require that all students build portfolios of their work to share with potential employers.
Graduate Research Assistantships available for full-time graduate students: History Department, the Center for Public History, the Banning Mill Industrial History Research Assistantship, the Annie Bell Weaver Special Collections, the Georgia Political Heritage Project and special grant-funded projects offered through the Center for Public History.
