The Master Scholar in History is both result and goal of a broad investment in postgraduate studies conducted from the 80's by UFPI in order to release teachers for courses in several Brazilian universities doctorate. The program of postgraduate studies in Social History of the Amazon search form and train researchers and teachers in the area of history, creating mechanisms for students and teachers to produce and disseminate their studies. On the social diversity, ethnic, cultural and biodiversity of the Amazon site, this program has two lines of research: History & Nature and Work, Culture and Ethnicity that fuel the creation of historical studies that relate to reality and the Amazon area in Brazil with that of the surrounding countries, as well as border areas of the rest of Brazil.
