A history minor is designed for students who desire to understand the historical background of their major field and to provide an evolutionary or developmental perspective on the study and practice of their major field. Selection of courses will depend on the major and on the interests of the student.

TOTAL: 21 semester hours Requirements for a Labor Studies Minor PR/LD 210; PS 301, 306, 325; HI 342, 360; PR 212; EC 110; one course from PY 295, PE 205, GE 212, HI 351 (when applicable), HI 353 (when applicable), HI/PS 310, HU 310 (when applicable), SS 310 (when applicable). A minor in history consists of at least 21 hours of courses completed with a "C" or better from history courses. At least 12 semester hours must be at the 300-level. Students must complete HIST-111(3), 112(3), and 203(3). Requirements - Teaching Certification: If you desire to be certified to teach history at the secondary level (grades 6-12), you are ordinarily required to major in social science with a history concentration. You must also complete the Teacher Certification Program in Secondary Education which includes an education minor, described in the education section.
Career Opportunities in History History majors from Eastern have pursued a variety of professional careers in teaching, business, museums, and politics, including the governorship of Illinois.
