PG in History of Medicine at Newcastle University
We are in the School of Historical Studies and, as such, we enjoy close links with Classics, History and Archaeology. We are also part of the Northern Centre for the History of Medicine, a partnership between the medical historians at Newcastle and Durham Universities funded by a £400,000 Wellcome Trust Enhancement Award.
We run a regular seminar series, the Pybus Seminar in the History of Medicine, which features distinguished speakers from across the world. The seminar, which has existed for more than thirty years, is named after Frederic Pybus, the late Newcastle Professor of Surgery who had wide-ranging interests in the history of medicine and who left a large and valuable collection of antiquarian books on medical history to the Newcastle University Library (the Pybus Collection).
Research Assessment Exercise (RAE): you can find out more about the University’s areas of research excellence that have been submitted for RAE 2008 and also check how well we performed.
