History Admission Requirements at Lindsey Wilson College

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Lindsey Wilson College welcomes applications from students genuinely interested in attending college. Admissions decisions are made by the Director of Admissions based on academic promise, personal objectives, maturity, motivation, and a resonable potential for success at the College.

Lindsey Wilson uses the “rolling admissions” plan, which enables the Admissions Office to notify applicants of admission decisions as soon as all credentials have been received.
Students may apply for admission at any time, but it is recommended that applications be filed as early as possible during the senior year in high school.

Traditional high school graduates may be accepted after (a) and (b) below have been completed.

a completed application for admissions;

an official high school transcript indicating graduation date or GED (General Education Development) test scores with a minimum average standard score of 45 for the combined five tests with no score an any test less than 40.

the results of the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) prior to pre-registration for the second semester of enrollement. This requirement is waived for international students and students who have been out of high school one year or more.

History Admission Detail at Leiden University

Ia. Leiden University students who want to do a “doorstroommaster”

Students who have a bachelor’s degree from Leiden University and who intend to continue in the related “doorstroom” master’s programme do not have to apply for admission for the “doorstroommaster”. They will automatically receive a registration form in June. Students are requested to return the registration form before September 1 for start in September or before February 1 for start in February.

Research master’s programmes

A research master’s programme is never a “doorstroommaster”. All prospective research master’s students have to apply for admission, including those Leiden University students who have a bachelor’s degree in the same discipline. In general the application deadline is June 15 for start in September and December 1 for start in February.
Ib. All Other Dutch Students

All other Dutch students have to apply for admission first. In order to avoid unnecessary delays, students are urged to submit the application file before the following dates:
June 15 for start in September (some departments accept late applications)
December 1 for start in February (some departments accept late applications)

Late applications

While some departments will accept late applications (see the individual programme description if this is possible) please bear in mind that your file is one of many that have to be processed.
If you apply after the deadlines enrolment may be deferred until the next possible start date, which usually means next semester (see individual programme descriptions for information on strat dates).
Late applications may also result in a delay in the processing of your registration, which could mean that you will have to wait for your student ID card until after the start of the programme. This may hinder timely enrolment in courses or access to blackboard files.
IIa. International Students who are applying from abroad

The general deadlines for international students who need a visa and housing, are:
April 1 for programmes starting in September
October 15 for programmes starting in February
In some cases other deadlines may apply. Please see the programme description for the exact application deadline.

IIb. International Students who live in the Netherlands

Students who are already living in the Netherlands and who do not need a visa or housing can apply after these deadlines, and can observe the application deadlines for Dutch students. However, as it still takes time to review your application, we would encourage you to apply as early as possible. Delays in processing your application may mean that you will have to wait for your student ID card until after the start of the programme. This may hinder timely enrolment in courses or access to blackboard files. (Blackboard is a digital learning environment, which facilitates communication between lecturers and students.)
