In partnership with four European universities, Philosophical Faculty of the University offers first European interdisciplinary master’s program in history of women and gender. It is intended for students wishing to gain expertise in the field of history women and gender and participate in international exchanges.

The program launches integrated perspective that goes beyond local, regional and  national frameworks to deploy processes studied in a broader context. With its comparative and transnational focus program aims to:

examined in historical perspective related to gender differences and similarities in European
cultures and societies;
•
examine the role of gender in shaping European history;
•
question inequalities related to gender.

The curriculum of the Master’s program was developed in accordance with the principles of the Bologna
declaration. It is agreed between the partner universities, to ensure optimal
opportunities for mobility of students. Each one of the partner universities: Vienna
University (coordinator), Austria, University «St. Kliment Ohridski », Bulgaria, University Lumiere,
Lyon 2, France, Central European University Budapest, Hungary and Notingamski
University, UK – offers courses on basic issues of social studies

Master’s program “History of Eurasia, Russia and Eastern Europe” enables students to learn about key issues in the history of extensive evroaziatski areas, attention is focused on Russia – a unique country and the development of some Asian and Eastern European countries which form the common geopolitical area of Eurasia. Specific aspect of training is learning about the most important trends of the historical development of science devoted to the region of Eurasia and Eastern Europe and the current state of historiography. The training is based on interdisciplinary approach, aiming not only good knowledge of political, social and economic history, but also various aspects of the culture of the Eurasian historical-geographical and geopolitical space.

Masters graduates can find career in education, scientific institutes, universities, museums, archives, public administration, international relations, as well as in the Bulgarian cultural policy. Master’s degree in history of Eurasia, Russia and Eastern Europe is consistent with the increased interest in Eurasian issues in the world at the beginning of XXI century

Successfully completed three (five-) term master specialization in ancient history and culture build knowledge in the humanities and social sciences in the field of ancient history and Thracology, paleobalkanistikata and indoevropeistikata, including ethno-cultural interactions in the contact zones of the world and Iztochnosredizemnomorskiya European Southeast.

With its research and pedagogical qualifications highways in history with specialization in ancient history and culture may find a career in education, scientific institutes, the Ministry of Culture, museums, mass media, public administration, tourism, in foundations and NGOs, whose business activity is related to cultural and ethno-cultural interactions and processes, ethnic and interethnic relations and others.

History and geography major, which was introduced at the Sofia University in the early twentieth century, after a break of several decades, is revealed as a new school during the 1999/2000 training is done with the common efforts of the historical-geographical and Geology Department. It includes a wide theoretical and practical training on basic historical, geological, geographical and educational disciplines. Students graduate with a degree Bachelor – teacher of history and geography. Graduates may work as teachers, in museums and other scientific and cultural institutions, which require a bachelor’s degree and training in history and geography. Training lasts four years (eight semesters) and includes a mandatory, elective and optional subjects. The list of eligible courses is open and can be updated each academic year. Of the eligible subjects – Block A and Block B. History Geography – students choose a minimum of three courses in the semester, a total of selected subjects in history must meet no less than 90 academic hours, or 7.5 credits, but Geography – at least 135 academic hours or 9 credits. By C. Block Teacher of History and Geography is a discipline elected by eligible subjects I and Group II – the history and geography. The training ends with three state exam. The first two are held in May and the acquisition of professional qualification “teacher of history and geography teacher. Third written examination in state history and geography will be held in July.
